Program Description
The Cosmetology Program enables students to acquire technical knowledge and skills necessary to qualify for the Florida Board of Cosmetology License Exam. Instruction includes a combination of class theory and practical experiences through practice with manikins and clients. Attendance is crucial to the successful completion of this program. Students will take the Florida Board of Cosmetology License Exam at the completion of the program, 1200 hours.

Florida Board of Cosmetology License
In order to sit for the Florida Board of Cosmetology License Exam, you must be at least 16 years of age, have completed 1200 school hours in a cosmetology program, and must submit the initial HIV/AIDS course completion certificate.
College Credit Award
Program completers may receive 24 Articulated Credits toward A.S., Industrial Management Technology at PHSC (60 credit hour program)
Career Information
Possible direct entry careers after high school: Hair stylist, nail specialist, skin care, product sales consultant
Possible careers after additional training: Salon owner/manager, massage therapist, esthetician
Uniforms
Students are required to wear all black professional business attire. Shoes should also be all black, closed toe and must have a backing to them. Skirts and sleeveless shirts are not permitted.
Detailed information about uniforms will be provided during the Cosmetology program orientation.
