Taking GED® classes is recommended prior to application for the GED test. Teachers of the GED® preparation classes give the Official GED® practice test, prescribe any necessary remediation, help students improve their test taking skills, and work toward their goal of passing the GED® test. Classes are held at Marchman Technical Education Center, New Port Richey Library, and Metropolitan Ministries. There is also an "online" study program for the GED® test...see Mr.. Roy, Adult Guidance Counselor for information at (727) 774-1719. A seat at the GED® exam is NOT guaranteed unless you have registered at the GED® office at MTEC and you have paid the testing fee. Reservations for the GED® will be taken prior to the first testing day providing there are spaces available Reservations for the GED® exam are on a first come, first served basis. You must register in person. Special editions of the GED tests and special accommodations in testing for candidates with professionally documented emotional, physical or learning disabilities are available to those meeting established criteria. Proper forms documenting the professional's findings must be submitted to the GED Office in Tallahassee for permission for special testing or accommodations. Call the GED office for more information and assistance in applying to the State GED Office. |

Please be aware that the GED Testing Service® is releasing a new version of the GED® test on January 1, 2014. Individuals who have tested on the current 2002 GED® test series must complete the exam series by December 31, 2013. Scores from the 2002 Series will be void, and, therefore, NOT combined with scores for the new assessment. Candidates who do not complete the current series will have to meet the requirements of the new test, starting January 1, 2014.
